I picked a word for 2022. Did you?

It’s been said that feelings last 90 seconds.

Anyone who has spent time making consistent contact with their inner experience knows that’s probably about right. Feelings are not something solid. They’re made up of energy, and tend to shift quickly when we can be present with them. We can also get stuck in them when we’re swept off our main current into whirlpools of shame, embarrassment, pain or trauma.

For many people, the last year seemed to be full of mental whirlpools of self-doubt, indecision and stress.

In most cases, there is not a lot we need to do except discover the unhelpful core beliefs underneath that stir those up and defend us against our feeling world…and let our holding patterns unravel.

From there, we can choose the kind of relationship we want with our wild inner world, and our equally interesting external world, too.

The word I chose for 2022 is wholeness.

In Jungian psychotherapy, it’s the end goal, the stage in which the union of the unconscious with the conscious has been achieved.

For me, it’s feeling connected to the life-serving force inside.

“Circlework provided for me a space to reflect and feel connected to myself and other women. To be able to take that feeling—that space—with me day to day provided me with a sense of empowerment and reassurance to any challenges I may face.”
