The Erotic As Power

Audre Lorde reads the essay “Uses of the Erotic: the Erotic as Power” … one of the most important essays of the 20th century. She talks about eros, “the personification of love in all it’s aspects” – “the lifeforce of all women … that creative energy empowered, the knowledge and use of which we are now reclaiming in our history, our loving, our work and our lives”.

“For once we begin to feel deeply all the aspects of our lives, we begin to demand from ourselves and from our life-pursuits that they feel in accordance with that joy which we know ourselves to be capable of.”

“Circlework provided for me a space to reflect and feel connected to myself and other women. To be able to take that feeling—that space—with me day to day provided me with a sense of empowerment and reassurance to any challenges I may face.”
